I'm still here!

Ok so i've been tremendously slack these past few weeks. BUT i have a decent excuse. I have a new Job! Yay for me. After battling those oh so tormenting thoughts of "What if the new job is as bad as the old one" I actually found myself being offered a job by someone from whom I least expecte it.

So taking the scary leaps and accepting the job, I am now a little more financially secure, a lot more confident, and I'm happy! It's funny how things work out, after dealing with the ego and deciding that I don't need a job where i'm in charge, I find I'm in a better position than I ever was.

I have however completely forgotten my 365 day challenge but it's not gone for good. Now that i am actually earning money i will be upgrading my camera, and challenging myself (however unrealistically) to 1 Photo a day. We'll see how that pans out...So stay tuned.

Meeting THE Writer...

Let me start off by saying that I've had a fabulous weekend!

I managed to visit the Sydney Writers Festival on Sunday, see one of my favorite authors of all time and hear her talk about the process of writing fantasy for young adults. It was wonderful to hear her take on the writing process and her obvious attachment to her characters and the world she has created around them. I gleaned a few tid-bits of advice for my own writing, but all in all I found myself in the position of an excited fan; clutching my 15 year old copy of 'Obernewtyn' to my chest and waiting impatiently to get to the front of the line to get that signature, only to get there and not be able to mutter much more than a hello and a thank you before wandering off, stupid grin on my face a skip in my step and that wonderful book still clutched - albeit a little tighter – to my chest.

I had questions! But did they want to come out? Perhaps wisely, No! I somehow think that the 50 or so people behind me wouldn’t have appreciated my holding up of the line whilst I quizzed Ms Carmody a little more than what Book Signing etiquette would forgive me for.

But in the end I’ve come away with a little more inspiration, a squiggle addressed to me in my beloved book and a photo to prove it!

Gallery Challenge

The challenge is to take one photo every day. 365 for 2009...

I'm trying to decide whether to put myself through this. I've seen it done and the results if you look here http://www.flickr.com/photos/photokayla/ can be truly amazing. And it gives me a little more justification to go and upgrade my camera and equipment.

Maybe i'll ponder a little longer though i don't know where that will get me but further procrastination...ah my favourite passtime!

Todays the day

I've been muddling over this idea of a blog for a while, but who I thought would want to read my musings of daily life and such. But in the end as it was, it has gotten the best of me, and so...

Welcome to the Cubby House. Leave your shoes at the door, feet are welcome on the furniture but only if they're clean, and please enjoy the view....
